It’s official. Cats and dogs are better models than people. It’s just a fact, I’m afraid. I discovered this fact on a little journey on the weekend to a Cat Café.
It was an event that was being held by a Meetup group that I am a part of. You might remember me mentioning Meetup in my very first post. Meetup is a social website that allows you to join groups of likeminded people and join fun and interesting activities. Depending on the group you join, the events will either be free or for a fee.
So, I met my Meetup group at the event location, Whiskers and Cream in north London. After our group arrived, we were guided to our table by the lovely staff and we were given the do’s and don’ts of the cafe.
Once that was out of the way, we were given mini-tasks which helped to focus on what sort of photographs to get. So for the next hour and a half, we went around the café and took some photographs.
Once we had our fill of cats, we took to the streets for a little extra activity…photographing dogs!
So, we went to Whittington Park around the corner from the café and in a similar vein to what we did in the café, we wandered around the park looking for dogs to photograph.
I had a lot of fun with this part as while I was photographing the dogs, I was able to have a chat with the dog owners.
As you can expect with dogs and the cats, getting a good shot of them can be tricky as they like to move around a lot. You really have to anticipate what they’re going to do in order to get your focus right. I managed to get some good shots though, so I’m happy.
All in all, it was a great morning and I had a really good time taking shots with everyone. I would recommend you check out some of the groups on Meetup and find something that you can get involved with.
